Here you can find some of the games I use in my classroom:






Alphabet Game.

  • This game is exactly the same as the one in the TV show. We can prepare a circle with the 29 letters in the alphabet and each letter will refer to one vocabulary word we have previously chosen so as to revise it with our students. Then, after dividing our students in groups, each one with a representative, we can play the game, taking into account the time or not.
  • As a variation, we can ask our students to prepare the game themselves, by choosing the words to be included and the definitions for their mates in order to guess them.


Chinese Torture Game

  • This game is very helpful so as to revise irregular verbs. We draw smily faces on the blackboard, one for each student in our class, and three taps of water on top of all of them. Then, we say one irregular verb aloud, and they have to raise their hands to provide the teacher with the past tense and past participle form of this verb. The first child that raises the hand will be the first person to be asked. If s/he gives the correct answer, the rest of the smily faces receive a drop of water over their heads. The kid that gets less drops of water wins, and the child that gets more than ten drops of water, s/he becomes crazy and stops playing.


Memory Game


  • This game is also suitable to revise vocabulary. The material needed are different sets of cards. Each set will contain cards with the words we intend to revise written and cards with different drawings referring to those words. In small groups, each one with one set, the children will have to put them face down. Then, one by one they will have to put two cards up, one with a written word and another one with a drawing. If these cards coincide, the child will score one point. If not, s/he will have to put them face down again and the next child would take his or her turn.
